Autism Friendly days…

New for 2019 the NESM team are working alongside the Autism Centre for Supported Employment to bring all-new opening days suitable for visitors with various sensory needs. Throughout the museum we use lights, sounds, smoke and smells to bring history to life but for these designated openings we will open with additional staff and simply just the lights on. Open 10:00 - 16:00 on the first Tuesday of every month.

Climb aboard our RNLI lifeboat to see the bridge and engine room and try on historical and modern rescue kit.

Memorabilia and Collectors’ Fair

For this date, the museum will be packed full of additional treats! We will be joined by collectors, specialists and enthusiasts from all over the country to celebrate, sell and buy all things vintage and modern Emergency Services!

Admission for this day only is reduced to £5.00 per person (this is due to many of the museum's permanent exhibitions and displays being closed, altered or covered to accommodate the event).

Vintage Christmas Weekend

14 & 15 December

Celebrate the festive season in true vintage style, with live music performances from vintage vocalists, 1940s dance sessions for children, Father Christmas, crafts, storytelling, living history displays, period reenactors and even fire engine rides! Additional information to come soon.

A special exhibition, on loan from English Heritage,  looks into the amazing cell block graffiti left at Richmond Castle, Learn about those who left their mark across 100 years of history and explore a digital model of the castle.
